Vogue THAILAND Edition

LONDON — Vogue will launch in print and digital versions in Thailand in 2013, said Jonathan Newhouse, chairman and chief executive of Condé Nast International.

The publisher has signed a licensing agreement to publish the title in partnership with Serendipity Media Co. Ltd., a new Thai company established for this venture.

Newhouse said Thailand has a “well-established media market, and there’s a strong appetite for luxury fashion and beauty among its sophisticated urban consumers. The time is now right for Vogue.”

Kullawit Laosuksri, who served as editor-in-chief of Elle Thailand for nine years, is editor of the latest edition of Vogue. Nigel Oakins, a publisher with experience in Thailand and the Asia region, has been named executive chairman of Serendipity Media Co. Ltd, while Siri Udomritthiruj, previously managing director of The Post Publishing magazine division, has been named chief executive officer.

James Woolhouse, president of Condé Nast Asia-Pacific said: “We are pleased to work with Nigel Oakins and Siri Udomritthiruj, two experienced and well-respected media professionals.

“Editorially, Kullawit Laosuksri has an unparalleled knowledge of the fashion and beauty market, and excellent relationships with both local and international fashion brands. The stage is set for the arrival of Vogue, the pre-eminent fashion media brand, in Thailand,” he added.

Oakins noted that Thailand has a lively local fashion scene, “with many top designers starting to break through both regionally and internationally, so the timing is perfect.”

Vogue Thailand will be the 21st Vogue worldwide. Vogue also plans to launch in Ukraine next year, as reported.
